3. Application Fields of Al2O3 Dispersion Strengthened Copper Rod And Wire
It is mainly used for resistance welding electrode heads,electrode caps,welding wheels,electrode arms,contact tips for cutting and gas shielding welding,vacuum switches,electrical connectors,contacts,electrical engineering in service sector,electronics and communications,automobiles,home appliance and vessel manufacture,molds,etc.UNS C15715 is an aluminium / aluminum oxide dispersion-strengthened copper alloy with physical properties that are similar to pure copper. It possesses very good elevated-temperature mechanical properties.

Machinability – The machinability of copper UNS C15715 alloy is rated at 20.

Welding – Soldering is considered the best welding method for UNS C15715. Brazing is the next best choice. Butt welding is acceptable; however oxyacetylene welding, gas shielded arc welding, and coated metal arc welding are not recommended. Spot welding and seam welding can be performed but is of poor standard.

Forging – The hot forgeability rating of this alloy is 65.

Hot working of copper UNS C15715 alloy is poor.

Cold working of copper UNS C15715 alloy is excellent

Annealing – Copper UNS C15715 alloy can be annealed at temperatures ranging from 649 and 982ºC (1200 and 1800ºF).
